Running or walking You may either run, jog or walk all events. There is no time limit.
Doggie do's and don't's See the Doggie Dash page
Start/finish The start and finish for all events will be on Harbour Road at Ohiwa Harbour.
Half Marathon course The Half Marathon will be 95% on road. There will be a short off-road section near the start (at about the 2km point) along a clearly defined dirt track. Two short stretches (100-200 metres) will be on grass.

There will be a few rolling hills near the start. Ohope is the perfect location for this run - you will not cover the same ground in the same direction twice. The event will be sanctioned by Athletics New Zealand (WBP1001).

The Lion Foundation Rotorua Marathon The timing and terrain of this half marathon run means that you will be able to get in a fast run to test yourself before the hugely popular Lion Foundation Rotorua Marathon four weeks later. This is a very good test of both your fitness and your marathon preparation.
10k course The 10km run / walk will start in the same direction as the Half Marathon and take in the small rolling hills near the golf course at the start. On your return journey you will depart from the Half Marathon course, run over the sand dunes and along the beach, returning via Ocean Road and Harbour Road. This course has little traffic.

See a proposed course map
Doggie Dash course The Doggie Dash will start in the same direction as the other two events but will not continue as far towards the Golf Course. Proportionately more time will be spent on the beach and on Ocean Road.

Athlete Nutrition
Water and sports drink will be available for all competitors (including canines).
Traffic: The 10k and Doggie Dash are on roads with very minimal motor vehicle traffic. The Half Marathon course can be expected to have light traffic. STMS-supervised traffic marshalls will be on course on race day for your safety.
